FESTIVAL INFORMATION & ARCHIVE

We at NNCMC wanted to let you all know that BBC Alba have confirmed they will be transmitting highlights from the 2015 NNCCM Easter Festival as part of their Ceol Country series on Sky 143 & Freeview 8, these will go out at 9.00 pm on four consecutive Tuesdays commencing on the 22nd September and repeated again the following Sundays.

We are constantly being asked if our Festival is going ahead in 2016, but sadly we are not in a position at the moment to confirm the Festival's future. Over the last couple of years our numbers have been falling, in particular with support locally, while the audience travelling from out with the county have remained fairly consistent. This coupled with the rising costs we incur putting on the event concern us and we are now at the stage where it may not be viable for us to continue.

The committee are gutted - we know that Caithness has many country fans some dedicated supporters of our event but many have never attended a show or simply stopped coming.

We will shortly be holding our AGM which will be a crunch meeting, we need to know how we are going to regain support, encourage newbies, to bring the Festival back to where it needs, and deserves, to be in order to continue.

So please respond via our Facebook page or through the Contact Us page of this site and let us know if we can count on your support. Feel free to offer any suggestions you may have to encourage a sell-out audience in order to keep the Best Festival in the UK on our doorstep - its future is in your hands…

NOTE OF THANKS FROM THE NNCCMF COMMITTEE

From the NNCCMF committee I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who contributed in making our Festival the huge success it was.

The standard of music on stage all weekend was second to none - how could you pick a favourite!! They were all the very best; from the youngsters representing Thurso High School to the cream of country music artistes from Texas and Nashville, our bands from Europe and Ireland, and our own talented acts locally and from across Scotland, we certainly achieved what we set out to do provide something for everyone.

To all the folk who helped us turn the venue into a very impressive Texas Dance Hall for the weekend and then reinstate it into a riding centre very quickly on the Monday a massive THANKS. Simon and his crew for the great sound and light system the stage dressing it certainly looked the part.

George Malcolm for efficiently carrying out his compere duties, Pentland United for the bar and stewarding, our catering providers (we certainly didn't go hungry), our sponsors, all who helped with transport, the Hotels for looking after our artistes and fans backstage and corporate helpers, first aiders, face painters.

Not forgetting the TV crew who were with us all weekend - they were a great bunch to work with and we look forward to seeing the weekends highlights when the programmes are transmitted later in the year.

Our committee friends and family who support and help all year round in pulling the Festival together... their help is immeasurable. Last but by no means least yourselves the country fans for turning out year after year and supporting us -without you there would be no Festival, it was brilliant see so so many of you travelling from all over the UK to be part of our weekend...hope you all got home safely.

It's been pretty quiet in the Gray household this week however, apart from aches and pains, we have caught up on sleep, got our voices back and the boxes back in the loft.

Thanks again Christine
