July Club Night... Johnny Brady... see details below...

NNCMC will hold a special show this month when American, Irish & Scottish artistes perform at their club night.

Johnny Brady from Co. Antrim will be making his third visit to the club and for the second time will be picking up an award for Band of the Year winner as voted by the club members.

Johnny has been involved in the industry for 20 years working with a host of top musicians and after forming his own band he very quickly became a household name on the music scene.

Making a very welcome return to the club Johnny is noted for his lively high energy performance teamed with an immense talent and charismatic personality. He has been the recipient of many awards in Ireland and has a string of hits under his belt: his latest release Just Dance from his newly recorded album entitled Radio looks certain to be this summer's winner.

With Johnny will be one of Nashville's award winning singer songwriters Max T Barnes whose songs have been recorded by the cream of country music stars including George Jones & Gene Watson. His No 1 single Love Me written for Colin Raye was nominated for an award at the CMA's where he was pipped at the post by his dad with the beautiful Vince Gill number Look At Us. Max visited Ireland last year where he performed alongside Johnny and released a duet called Looking For A Girl with Lisa Stanley the songstress and presenter from the Phil Mac Country Show.

Flying the flag for Scotland Country Friends, Jim and Tom from Livingstone are great country music fans this is evident by their playlist, together they deliver some authentic country songs made famous by their heroes which they make unique by adding their own twist to them.

The Northern Nashville committee wish to say a big thank you to the Dounreay Community Fund who recently donated generously to the club in order for them to bring American acts to Caithness allowing fans the opportunity to hear country music of the very best.

The show which takes place on Friday July 29th in the Royal British Legion club rooms Thurso looks set to be very busy with admission only by pre booked tickets so don't be disappointed ensure you get yours to be part of this Summer Sizzler contact Christine on 01847 892410.

Given that we have a new committee in place I felt it was time I introduced them and at the same time updated our web site.

Over the years since it's inception in 1987 Northern Nashville Country Music Club (NNCMC) has built up a reputation as one of the most respected clubs on the country music scene, and has also gained the accolade for being one of the friendliest, a fact endorsed by artistes, guests and visitors alike. This could only have been achieved by the hard work and dedication of the committee, past and present, along with the continued support of our members.

Our club normally meets the last Friday of the month in the The Royal British Legion Clubrooms, Riverside, Thurso. Doors open at 7.00pm, the support band starts the entertainment at 8.00pm followed by the main act. Both do a short cabaret spot followed by two dancing ones.

Sadly in today's climate many clubs up and down the country have been forced to close their doors, however NNCMC continues to grow, introducing our members to all genres of country music and showcasing top acts.

In 2004 we took a gamble and ran our first ever Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival (NNCCMF), which thankfully was a great success. Over the years it has gone from strength to strength, with country music fans converging on Caithness over Easter Weekend to be part of this 3-day 5-show extravaganza of live country music. This is truly an international event featuring top class acts from the USA, Canada, Europe, Ireland and the U.K. alongside our wealth of local talent and youth bands. In recognition of the success of our event, we were awarded Festival of the Year 2014 at the British Country Music Awards - such an honour.
